About the Author
of Beyond Basic Training: Fitness Strategies for Men

Jon Giswold is a top trainer and Group Fitness Instructor who is on staff at Reebok/Sports Club NY and Sports Club LA in New York City. He is a consultant to the Nautilus Fitness Group creating programs for Schwinn Fitness, Stairmaster and Nautilus equipment. As owner of JMG Management, he designs and manages fitness centers for top New York developers. His first book, Basic Training, was published in 1998.

Photographer Augustus Butera captures spontaneous snippets of life on Polaroid film and then juxtaposes the photos into colorful diptychs. Using one of many Spectra cameras, Butera manipulates the focus, exposes the film to allow the emulsion to mingle with the available light, and renders distorted scenes in an alluring range of colors and textures.
